We currently are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and innovative Sr. Research Nutritionist. This key position will be based in our corporate offices in Northridge, CA (So. CA).
Position Summary:
Serves as an internal and external nutrition expert in the fundamental science of supplements. Ensures scientific evidence supports product safety and efficacy claims. Identifies and provides scientific guidance for new products, technologies, and other business initiatives that support business strategies and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provides input on scientific and technical guidance for product formulations, labeling and advertising claims, consumer and trade promotions and public relations issues.
- Actively participates in the new product development process, from discovery, initial feasibility assessment to product qualification, business evaluation and commercialization.
- Interfaces with academic and research institutions to develop favorable relationships.
- Builds and maintains a strong network of scientific consultants and experts and participates on Pharmavite's Scientific Advisory Board.
- Serves as a communicator/spokesperson on nutrition matters for television, radio, and the press. Writes articles for publications regarding nutrition issues key to Pharmavite's growth.
- Monitors and analyzes new scientific information related to dietary supplements and dietary ingredients and disseminates relevant information within the company. Provides nutritional and educational support to the Marketing, Consumer Affairs and other departments as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Requires a Masters degree or its equivalent in the life sciences, Biochemistry, Nutritional Science. A Doctoral degree is preferred.
Certification:
None. RD certification is preferred
Experience:
2-3 years relevant experience in nutrition, food or pharmaceutical sciences with a Masters degree (no experience required with a Doctoral degree). Clinical study experience at a hospital or other research institution and academic experience is desirable. Experience partnering with marketing to bring added value to consumer products through nutrition is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of physiology and clinical nutrition.
- Ability to continually integrate new learning with existing knowledge and communicate to the profession.
- Demonstrated skills in critical analysis of scientific results, project planning, and computer literacy.
- Ability to convey technical issues to and productively interact with non-scientists
- Proven excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacognosy preferred.
Physical Requirements:
General office environment, ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to move about an office. A minimum of 10-20% travel via car or plane is expected.
