Sr Risk Portfolio Underwriting Manager
Responsibilities
- Delegated Lending Authority of $4MM for first mortgage and of $4MM for home equity products.
- Manager of a specialized portfolio underwriting team of five underwriters (grades 16 (3), grade 15 and grade 12)
- This position directs the portfolio underwriting team which makes lending decisions on higher loan amounts ($1MM or more) and on all credit policy exceptions requested by Home Lending Solutions sales and operations from all four operations sites. The team handles 300 to 500 decisions per month. This position is also reviews all escalated exception or TCL decisions that have been denied or pended by portfolio underwriting and makes recommendations to senior management on other credit requests.
- The Portfolio Underwriting manager also works closely with Credit Administration and Secondary Marketing on all procedural changes and underwriting guidelines related to Portfolio loan products and is responsible for reviewing all communications to Home Lending Solutions prior to e-product memo announcements which totaled 111 announcements in 2012.
- The Portfolio Underwriting manager may also recommend policy changes to Senior Risk Management and initiate RPC proposals based on credit issues identified from the review of exception decisions or from the review of booked loans or loans with defaults or losses.
- The Portfolio Underwriting manager also supports Home Lending Solutions sales and operations staff with weekly meetings with Site Underwriting managers to review policy and procedure issues as well as active loan files and scenarios. The Portfolio Underwriting Manager also delivers training and development to sales as the featured speaker on HLS sales conference calls.
- The Portfolio Underwriting Manager oversees the asset quality reporting on first mortgages and home equity products booked. The results are distributed to senior management in Home Lending Solutions and Credit Risk and used as a tool to maintain the Underwriter Watchlist.
- The Portfolio Underwriting Manager also oversee the reviewing and reporting the team publishes on early defaults, charge offs, oversight of lending authority and expanded lending authority, operational errors, and other targeted reviews as identified by Senior Risk Management.
Qualifications
Degree in a business related field preferred
15+ years in residential real estate lending
15+ years in residential real estate lending management
FHA delegated underwrite
10+ years in lending on jumbo or non conforming first mortgages and home equity products for a bank's loan portfolio
5+ years in higher level credit policy exception lending
5+ years experience in lending to self employed borrower's with deep experience in the review of complex personal and business tax returns and financial statements with a detailed working knowledge of financial accounting.
Hours and Work Schedule
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
