JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Sr. Software Systems Engineer is responsible for design, development and validation of the vehicle control software and the integration of electronic modules to the vehicle, in support of current and future model year vehicle programs. This individual will be heavily involved in system development, integration and validation of the vehicle during each phase of the program from concept to manufacturing. This position reports to the program Electrical Systems Director.
Responsible for the vehicle network and data communications architecture
• Responsible for creating functional specification of driveline control software or perform safety analysis to the function (such as DFMEA/ Fault Tree Analysis)
• Responsible for analyzing and developing drive line control algorithm by modeling and software tools;
• Responsible for documenting algorithm design and implementation of functional specification
• Responsible in the validation of functional specification of control software by vehicle testing (with INCA or CANAnalyzer) or simulation;
• Participate in managing the calibration of control software;
• Support the diagnostic specification of control software;
• Specification and validation of tie1 suppliers’ software
• Evaluation and implementation of software into the various modules on the vehicle with software and model tools (such as Matlab/Simulink), and working with all parties involved to optimize this control strategy
• Create and execute component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods
• Support vehicle development milestones and build events
• All subsystem software and electrical designs must be incorporated into the design process of a major Chinese manufacturer to enable mass production.
• Integrate supplied subsystems into the beta vehicle prototype build. Demonstrate functionality and support prototype testing / validation.
• Manage design related issues discovered during the prototype and validation process. Address pre-production Quality / Reliability / Durability Issues.
• Incorporate recommendations of the Technical Advisory Board and 3rd party assessment agencies.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• BS, MS preferred in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a respected institution
• Five years minimum experience in automotive with embedded Software Systems or electrical components (education in graduate school is considered as experience)
• Thorough understanding of software design and distributed embedded computer architectures
• Experience with development of system requirements or functional requirements
• Experience of hardware/software development/ calibration/validation in automotive industry
• Experience building and integrating production quality software and troubleshoot integration problems
• Experience with high voltage EV/HEV systems is desired
•Excellent communications skills and team collaboration
•Excellent analytical skills and writing skills to create technical specifications
• Demonstrated ability to manage difficult projects with tight timing constraints with the minimum supervision
• Knowledge in functional safety requirements and functional safety analysis
• Knowledge in Controller Artificial Network communication and Diagnostics
