Summary:
Responsible for Windows based server administration, including backup and recovery, monitoring, patching, change control, troubleshooting, hardware repair, Systems Center, SAN management, file space management, network printer administration, server/desktop/user virtualization, and email administration.
Scope:
Job involves communication and coordination for system upgrades, production change and special projects involving servers or storage. Some interaction with vendors is required, for troubleshooting, and system upgrade planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day activities of server administration, including installing, modifying, configuring, resolving problems, and maintaining servers, printers, and storage devices.
- Detect and fix hardware issues on hosted in the datacenter (e.g. servers, and storage).
- Utilize your knowledge and experience with various Microsoft infrastructure products including MOSS, System Center Configuration Manager, Systems Center Operations Manager and System Center Virtual Machine Manager and IIS.
- Responsible for the backup and recovery of all data, servers and storage.
- Apply expertise in administering both an iSCSI and fibre-channel Storage Area Network.
- Maintain and develop a virtual environment to streamline server, desktop, application and user consolidation.
- Prepare documentation, including technical designs (Visio) and operational manuals.
- Participates in topology design for new or modified systems, including analysis of performance responses, recovery capacities, automatic diagnostic and redundancy capacity.
- Participate in an after hours on call rotation.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree with 3 or more years experience in related field, or High school diploma and five or
more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and or/experience in an enterprise environment.
Preferred certifications:
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2003
- Microsoft Certified IT (MCITP) Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008
- MS Exchange 2007/2010 Certification
- CCNA
- EMC Proven Professional
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) 4/5
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2003 / 2008 Active Directory. Experience with using utilities and tools in the Windows operating system and resource kits.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 2007.
- Must be highly knowledgeable of Windows internal operating system technology, computer operations and hardware
- Proficient in supporting Microsoft Hyper-V or similar Virtual Platforms
- Proficient using Microsoft Clustering (Exchange, SQL, File Shares, Printing).
- Knowledgeable of data center methodologies and best practices.
