We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator (Linux) in our Glendale, CA offices. The Senior System Administrator plays a vital role in the general business operations of YellowPages.com. He/she is expected to utilize special training, experience or knowledge to perform highly technical tasks with limited supervision. The Senior System Administrator installs new software releases and system upgrades; evaluates and installs patches; resolves software related problems; performs system backups and recovery; maintains data files; and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. He/she must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures; will be expected to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; and must be creative in the use of technology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots all network systems to include backup of servers. Creates/maintains system accounts and security; system addresses; and login scripts on servers. Serves as an escalation point for Technical Support/Helpdesk Specialists in the resolution of server and system problems, escalates to Manager as appropriate. Monitors and audits security logs, and other related resources in an effort to provide a secure and robust system environment. Responsible for ensuring that servers and desktop computers have updated patches and anti-virus signatures. Fully utilizes system monitoring tools to minimize manual work. Ensures that servers are updated and upgraded as necessary or as specified/recommended by software or hardware vendors. Manages and improves antivirus and backups Communicates with team members and vendors to resolve equipment and application problems. Assists all team members in performing functions necessary for continued operations of systems to solve problems with associated hardware and software. Provides server support by participating in after-hours and on-call support and performing scheduled maintenance and upgrades during weekend and evening hours. Conducts product evaluations for new software and upgrades to existing software. Performs backup procedures and verify that backups are successful. Keeps informed on the latest developments in automated systems information and procedures. Special Skills/Qualifications: Red Hat Linux Certification MCSE preferred Knowledge of Veritas Expert Knowledge of Apache Strong Knowledge of Tomcat Knowledge of Monitoring tools (openview, cactus, nagios) Strong Knowledge of Script writing Some code development background is preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 4 years experience in Linux systems engineering/administration High level of proficiency in basic computer skills with a passion for technology A commitment to continuing education to strengthen skills and broaden expertise Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance Dedicated to achieving project schedules and milestones Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities while staying a team player Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail Self starter able to work with minimal supervision Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field is required or 8 years applicable experience We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits including a matching 401(k), bonuses, and a casual yet high-energy work environment.
