Sr Systems Engineer I

Job Description: The program is an Operations Sustainment and development contract in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

The selected engineering candidate will be part of the on-site OS team for a system considered critical by the government customer. The team is responsible for 24x7 operations of the system. The candidate will work with site engineers and operators, the Raytheon factory team, subcontractors, peers including the Infrastructure Service Provider, and product vendors to provide Tier 2 troubleshooting toward resolution of technical system anomalies.

The successful candidate must merge strong existing problem-solving skills, software and scripting skills with new knowledge of the operational system, in order to be a significant contributor to problem resolution within a month of joining the team. The candidate will exercise his or her ability to present technical topics both internally and to customer representatives, work effectively in team environment across multiple disciplines, and meet schedule milestones. The candidate will also perform detailed analysis, perform studies to characterize system performance, and predict system behavior.

At times, the candidate will perform as a system operator when operator tasking is heavy. The position is for a day, "swing," or night shift.

Required Skills:
- Current and active TS/SCI clearance (no exceptions)
- Strong engineering problem-solving skills with software engineering background. Able to apply these skills to identify and resolve anomalies in system functionality and performance .
- Proficiency using scripting languages, including PERL
- Familiarity with SQL
- Familiarity working in Linux and Windows environments, including solid knowledge of Linux commands.
- Ability to understand and follow defect resolution documentation in order to validate discrepancy corrections at site.
- Experience in system performance monitoring
- Strong team player
- Thorough, adhering to critical processes even under stress
- Strong verbal and written communication, including maintenance of detail problem tracking information

Desired Skills:
- Proficiency with Java
- Experience in Intelligence Operations
- Experience with NGA
- Experience with performance monitoring and system administration tools

Required Education (including Major): This position requires a BS/BA degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics and four years relevant work experience.
