**Bachelor's Degree and 5-10 years related experience, certifications required and successful background check required**

 

Collect and analyze system resource utilization data and use knowledge gained from performance data analysis and best practices and guidelines set by the industry and the vendor to propose possible system tuning improvements. Coordinate, test, perform, and validate performance tuning. 

 

Monitor the availability of HP-UX systems through diverse reactive and predictive monitors. 

 

Maintain a biannually patching cycle which includes coordinating downtime and adhering to environmental change control and promotion policy. 

 

Responsible for system configuration management, change management, managing system documentation, SOPs, document sharing, and operating procedure forums. 

 

Maintain and continually validate a central Ignite HPUX system backup service.

 

Implementing improvements such as system auditing and audit file switching, archiving files after defined intervals, system and disk device definition for new data, creating volume groups, logical volumes, copying images for non-active image file systems to storage, and defining image server failover capabilities.

 

Devise methods of automating the improvement of system reliability as well as job completion, abnormal termination, hardware failures, communication failures and other system abnormalities.

 

Develop, maintain and enhance automated systems to monitor connection times of use, idle time, and traffic volume.  This data will then be used to for performance tuning.

 

Maintain and work to continually improve on the extensive monitoring and reporting functions.   Maintain a website page for tracking performance bottlenecks and issues

 

Provide guidance and support to application administrators.

 

Make recommendations for system configuration changes and performance tuning specific to the operations of the application.

 

Prepare and maintain current system documentation, operator's manuals, and standard operating procedures. 

 

Perform all design, implementation, maintenance, and continual service improvement for the enterprise Solarwinds application. Currently there are 200+ linux, hp-ux, and windows based servers with agents installed.

 

In addition, work with various teams for rule implementation and configuration, maintaining performance graphs generated, updating underlying Oracle database as updates become available, and providing alert information to management as requested.

 

Lock down HPUX and Linux servers to meet government and contract security practices.  Maintain server compliance with updated security requirements.

 

Will serve as back up Program Manager and will be expected to provide assistance in writing contract proposals, approving timesheets, and managing personnel in the Program Manager's absence.

 

Qualifications:

BS/BA in Computer Science or directly related field (e.g., Engineering, Information Systems, etc) Master Degree desired but not required.

 

5-10 years related experience.

 

Experience with windows based servers, Microsoft Office Products.

 

Certification required:  HP-UX CSE and/or RHCE

Certifications preferred: Security + 2008,Network +,Linux +,ITIL V3 Foundation

Familiarity with maintaining departmental schedules, time and attendance.

 

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with strong oral and written communication skills essential. 

 

Ability to work in a team environment dealing face to face with internal customers.
