OVERVIEW
A Senior Systems Engineer in this role on the Windows Operations team will focus on remediating PCI audit exceptions in Windows/VMWare environments. A person in this role will conduct OS-level patch planning and coordination, Active Directory management, VMWare ESX management and patching, and will address any other system health issues for existing enterprise-class Windows/VMWare environments.
REQUIRED
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent work experience can be substituted.
9+ years experience in a fast-paced distributed systems support or engineering position.
Experience in an enterprise-class IT organization, managing 300 distributed (Windows) servers
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration and engineering.
Knowledge of PCI Remediation and various audit requirements and remediation efforts.
Demonstrates previous experience in a senior server and support role.
Administration and engineering skills for all Windows services including AD, WINS, DNS, DFS, and DHCP.
Knowledge of File Servers (NT, 2000, XP 2003, 2008)
Experience with clustering
Administration and knowledge of VMWARE ESX, vSphere, Citrix MetaFrame, Terminal Server, and Commvault.
Working knowledge and experience with Systems Center Configuration Manager SCCM, Microsoft Operations Manager MOM, HP Insight Manger, Dell OpenManager, Netbackup, Active Directory, LDAP Directory services, Domain Name Services DNS, Windows Internet Name Service WINS, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol DHCP.
Knowledge of VMWare ESX/vSphere, and Citrix MetaFrame and/or Terminal Server.
Strong understanding of data communication concepts and network/software configuration management.
Scripting, preferably VBScript or Powershell.
Familiar with standard security best practices.
Strong written and verbal communication, as well as, organization and documentation skills.
Strong customer service skills to deliver quality results in a demanding environment.
Able to work well under pressure and within short time constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Resolve difficult distributed server related issues
Define alterations and capacity upgrades to the current server environments,
Help establish and implement enterprise class standards for Microsoft-based infrastructure systems
Provide technical leadership for other Windows Operations engineers
Participate in DR testing as needed
Provide department management with on-site management assistance
Work irregular hours when needed
Participate in a technical on-call rotation.
