Position Summary

The Sr. Academic Relations Consultant is responsible for the management and implementation of an innovative Academic Relations strategy to attract and retain diverse talent for entry-level positions. The incumbent is crucial in the marketing and branding of PPL at targeted academic institutions; including frequent interface with career services, deans and professors. The incumbent also is a primary interface with internal Business Line/Service Area leaders in determining short and long term business needs relating to entry salaried and bargaining unit positions.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Manages and implements the annual Academic Relations strategy, which includes university relations and effectively aligns the Co-operative Associate program, technical-trade school program, future workforce (middle schools high schools) and the academic-related diversity programs to the Academic Relations strategy.

2. Advances the Academic relations strategy and program design, in partnership with the HR Business Partner teams and Business Line Leaders, with a focus on short and long term business need. Responsible for strong diversity focus through all facets or work (i.e. school selections, materials, events, multicultural centers, affinity groups.

3. Engage and uphold relationships with key faculty and career administration at targeted schools to ensure access to the best and brightest students. Implement and support "executive sponsors" and recruitment teams for universities/colleges and technical/trade schools.

4. Support and interface with team members involved with the execution of the Co-operative Associate program, technical/trade school program, and academic-related diversity programs, ensuring program are embedded in the Academic Relations strategy.

5. Lead execution of innovative events designed to create awareness of careers in energy and to present PPL as an "employer of choice" to academic personnel and student; to include the engagement of "executive sponsor" and other key PPL personnel.

6. Track, analyze and report Academic Relations metrics, evaluate year-over-year ROI and provides recommendations for improvements.

7. In partnership with the Talent Management Team, identifies needs, implement university-related recruitment strategies and create innovative programs; such as MBA rotational programs, which will address and support early-on development of talent and employee engagement.

8. In partnership with the Recruitment and Selection Team, develop effective screening tools for selection of students (i.e. MBA candidates, Co-operative Associates, BU Interns).

9. Support and coordinate classroom presentations, curriculum review, workshops and other similar activities through school faculty for students and/or professors, and engaging key PPL personnel.

10. Advance the alumni strategy for university relations to include working with university alumni offices; as well as engaging employees which are school alumni.

11. Network and benchmark with colleagues external to PPL and integrate best practices.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

Basic Qualifications

1. Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, Business or related degree.
2. 5-8 years experience in Human Resources.
3. Ability to travel to schools, conferences, and other job-related activities, occasionally requiring overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Professional Corporate experience working with university related initiatives (i.e. Co-operative Associate/Intern programs, college relations).
2. 2 years recruiting and/or diversity-related experience.
3. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and be proactive.
4. Strong internal consulting, influencing and relationship-building skills.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Strong analytical skills.
7. Strong presentation skills; including presentation development.
8. Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office products; such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
