This assessment must be completed within 5 days of receipt.** UPMC East is currently hiring full-time, part-time, weekend, and casual Professional Staff Nurses to support a 20 bed Acuity Adaptabile unit (Step-down) for its location in Monroeville. This unit will care for a patient population whch includes individuals who require close monitoring with a nurse patient ratio of 4:1. This is an ideal unit for experienced nurses who enjoy a variety of patient care experiences and who are excited to professionally contribute to opening a new unit. Candidates will be individually assessed for the proper My Nursing Career Position: Professional Staff Nurse, Professional Staff Nurse BSN, Senior Professional Staff Nurse, or Senior Professional Staff Nurse BSN. - Professional Staff Nurse level requires a minimum of six months of RN experience. - Senior Professional Staff Nurse level requires a minimum of two years RN experience, an annual pre-approved professional contribution/portfolio, and a current UPMC approved certification (optional for nurses with an MSN or higher). These positions will work three rotating 12 hour shifts each week (including weekends and holidays), using self-scheduling. Start dates will be scheduled for mid-March, early May and early June, and will be assigned as associates are hired. Basic Qualifications -Minimum 6 months experience required. -Minimum one year of telemetry and/or ICU experience strongly preferred. -BSN preferred. - Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. - Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process. - Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients. Licensure/Certifications - Act 33, 34 73 clearances required within 30 days of employment. - Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required. - Current ACLS certification required. - Participation in Basic Arrhythmia course required. - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania required. - UPMC approved national certification preferred.
