Under general supervision, candidate will provide legal advice and counsel to State Street Global Advisors' (SSgA) institutional client-facing organization, comprised of its institutional sales and relationship management business teams. Primary responsibilities will include: (i) drafting, reviewing and negotiating investment management contracts, trust agreements, omnibus agreements and sub-advisory agreements, (ii) providing advice in connection with request for proposal responses, (iii) overseeing the review of marketing and communications materials related to SSgA's investment strategies, products and research, and (iv) advising on the implementation and ongoing compliance with policies and procedures related to the creation, review and distribution of marketing and disclosure materials. Responsibilities will also include generally advising SSgA in connection with its investment management business, including but not limited to, securities laws, banking regulations and ERISA and fiduciary issues. A strong understanding of investment strategies and registered and un-registered investment products is necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- JD from an accredited law school
- License to practice in work location
- 9+ years of experience in investment management or '40 Act practice
- Strong client service, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong research, time management, planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently but also thrive in a global, dynamic and team-oriented environment
- Strong ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Ability to interact with multiple levels in an organization
