Staff Accountant Job Purpose: Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of financial statements and other reports which provide accurate and timely information to management, as well as performing other accounting related duties that enable the business to operate effectively and efficiently.
Staff Accountant Job Duties:
WEEKLY
· Update related information and request construction draws from banks.
· Update projected cash flow data for all entities.
· Compute and process for payment all commission disbursements.
· Perform AP functions for select business entities.
MONTHLY
· Prepare JEs and other analysis related to the monthly close for all entities, including entries to record revenue and cost of sales, interest and overhead capitalization, and expense accruals.
· Prepare bank reconciliations for most bank accounts.
· Prepare monthly account reconciliations for most of the Balance Sheet accounts, including but not limited to: cash bonds, buyer deposits, lot deposits, fixed assets and related accumulated depreciation, and prepaid loan and bond fees.
· Maintain monthly summaries of unit data – sales, starts and closings
OTHER
· Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
· Assist controller with special projects as they arise.
· Assist administrators as needed by providing financial information and/or analysis related to individual homes or customers.
Qualifications: 4 Year Degree and 5 + Years of Experience Preferred, Industry Experience a plus.
Skills: Knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping, Deadline-oriented, time management, Attention to detail, PC Proficiency – especially MS Excel, Good Verbal Communication Skills.
