Position overview:

The Staff Accountant's responsibilities  supports the Controller by performing various accounting tasks duties; responsible for general daily processing and related administrative tasks.

Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements.

Duties:
* Reviews general ledger accounts and corrects journal entries.

 * Maintains and balances system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.

* Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.

* Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.

* Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.

* Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.

* Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.

* Provides accounting support by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.

* Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Experience and Education:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

·         Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in General Ledger Accounting preferred.

·         Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).

·         Experience in home health accounting preferred.

·         Must be able to demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and Excel and have the ability to readily learn agency specific software.

·         Must be proficient in the use of database and spreadsheet software.

·         Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy, 80% accuracy in Excel, and 8,000 to 10,000 proficient in 10-key adding machine.
