Job Summary:
The Junior Mortgage Servicing Attorney will be responsible for providing support to the senior attorneys in the Legal Department on all levels requested. This role will also work closely with other support staff team members.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- To assist senior attorneys in their management of routine and complex mortgage servicing related matters, including:
- Assisting senior attorneys in the management of more complex or otherwise escalated agency or other regulatory/attorney general/US Attorney inquiries and/or subpoenas
- Transactional Management
- Review of Correspondence and Customer Facing Material Review
- Corporate Governance, including Subsidiary Support
- Reporting and Trending documentation
- Assisting senior counsel in Special Projects and other non-routine matters, as needed
Business Knowledge and Technical/Analytical Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with Westlaw and other online legal resources (required)
- Understanding of regulatory topics, concepts, practices and procedures related to the life of a loan (origination, servicing, loss mitigation and default/foreclosure) (highly preferred)
- Experience with regulatory and/or compliance issues relating to mortgage servicing (highly preferred)
- Experience working with highly confidential information (required)
- Demonstrated ability to draft clear, professional letters, memos and other legal and business correspondence and documents (required)
- Proven ability to oversee multiple projects and respond quickly to changing priorities (required)
- Proven attention to detail (required)
- Proven ability to meet deadlines (required)
- Strong analytical skills – ability to find, evaluate risk-base information from internal and external sources and make sound decisions (required)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel (required)
- Typing input speed of at least 50 words per minute (preferred)
- Strong communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an ABA Accredited Law School
- Licensed and in good standing in at least one state, preferably Texas
- Have 3-5 years experience, preferably with some experience with a law firm or mortgage-related corporate law department
