General Job Objective

Manitowoc Cranes, a global leader in lifting solutions, is seeking an innovative Staff Engineer-Testing Architect. Key responsibilities of this position include provide technical expertise and leadership to create new innovation regarding embedded system automated testing; develop a common testing architecture to generate reuse of testing objects and methods to improve product reliability across all product families; use innovative thinking to develop, research, and evaluate new technology trends and drive best practices into the organization; and responsible for all aspects of assigned projects (both RD and sustaining) from conception, design, development, testing, customer interaction and transfer to manufacturing groups. Reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering, this position is located in New Port Richey, FL (Tampa area).

Essential Job Functions

1. Create and maintain a common control software and hardware platform testing (in-the-loop testing) architecture model and process.
2. Benchmark current controller hardware and software reliability and measure and communicate improvements.
3. Design test plans by compiling use case scenarios in coordination with the Operating Companies.
4. Conduct software and hardware regression tests to support control systems design release by the Operating Companies.
5. Provide complete documentation package to support the final design prototype for transfer to Operating Companies or other outside third party vendors. Packages include testing design concepts, architecture, detailed scripts, test process, validation and test reports to identify critical design parameters and components.
6. Develop plant models and test harnesses to automate the controller hardware and software validation process.
7. Integrate hardware and software for real-time hardware in the loop simulation.
8. Coordinate project work by consultants and sub-contractors as needed.
9. Develop new technical innovations regarding testing infrastructure and methods.
10. Technical liaison to operating companies regarding test plans, results, and testing best practices.
11. Research new and emerging technologies for application to new Manitowoc products to improve product reliability.
12. Proactively supports top-line growth of our operating companies.
13. Participate in solution selling efforts and assist with equipment demonstration and customer visits as requested by management.
14. Perform duties and responsibilities within the parameters of the companys business ethics policy.
15. Provide technical presentations to customers, operating companies, and management as required.
16. Perform detailed analysis of competitor equipment and technologies.
17. Evaluate new equipment designed at Operating Companies.
18. Review existing equipment problems as required and investigate with operating companies and/or outside consultants the development of robust solutions.

Job Requirements/Working Conditions

1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science required.
2. A minimum of 7 years experience of automated testing for real-time embedded applications.
3. A minimum of 5 years experience with dSpace or equivalent automated testing environments; Simulink/Matlab simulation tools and Python scripting; and automated regression testing equipment and usage and deployment required.
4. CMMi process background preferred.
5. Experience with CAD System operation and Administration preferred.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
7. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
8. Must have the ability to move/lift 30 lbs.
9. Normal office environment with exposure to the manufacturing lab and test facilities.
