Job Description and Responsibilities
Come join Coherent, the worldwide leader in photonics. This is a unique opportunity to join the market leader in high power laser diodes to make a significant and lasting contribution taking our laser diode packaging operations to the next level.
• Sustain and improve existing laser diode optical packaging processes as well as transfer a newly developed product to production. Individual contributor with hands-on process ownership.
• Identify critical process parameters, initiate and sustain statistical process control.
• React to out-of-control conditions by implementing containment and investigating for the source cause of the condition.
• Disposition material that does not conform to specifications.
• Write new and maintain existing process documentation.
• Train and certify technicians on packaging processes and equipment.
• Track and improve yields.
• Define equipment requirements and specifications.
Education and Work Experience
• 10 years plus experience in the field of high power laser diode packaging.
• Extensive experience with laser diode optics alignment, laser diode packaging.
• In-depth technical understanding of laser diode device and characteristics of optical components.
• Knowledge of conventional as well as advanced packaging materials commonly used.
• Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting new and existing processes.
• Fluent in statistical data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), design for manufacturability (DFM), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).
• Computer skills – statistical software, MS Office, etc.
Other Requirements:
• Self motivated, driven personality.
• Must work well in teams.
• Semiconductor Product Engineer background is highly desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• B.S. or M.S and higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
• Must be US citizen or green card holder.
