RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interpret physician's prescriptions. Contact doctors or other prescribers and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions and expedite processing of order. Track order status and outstanding issues. May consult with patients regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions. Maintain daily production, quality and service levels. Vary work priorities and activities to accommodate business needs. May train less experienced pharmacists. Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians. Interpret physicians or prescribers prescriptions. Contact doctors and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions such as drug strength, prescription sig., drug name.  Perform drug utilization review with respect to dosing, drug-drug, drug-allergy and drug-age interactions to ensure safe patient medication use and  in order to expedite processing of orders. Verify, confirm validity of controlled substance prescriptions and track patient utilization of controlled substance. Verify prescription information entered in the system by data entry or order entry. Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorization. Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic or preferred drugs whenever possible. Consult with patients regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions. Back up other pharmacists as needed, perform additional duties as assigned by management, or train less experienced pharmacists. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that works well with all fellow employees. QUALIFICATIONS:

New York State licensed pharmacist in good standing; RPh or Pharm D. 1-2 years experience in retail pharmacy setting preferred. Must be able to  read and interpret prescriptions. Strong focus on accuracy, quality and customer service. Ability to manage timelines and meet tight client deadlines. Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues. Flexibility to adapt in a changing environment essential.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Knowledge of PBM industry/managed care industry helpful.  Willingness to work a flexible schedule for peak volume times. The projected schedule is expected to include some evening hours as well as a rotation of Saturday hours.
