Static Stress Engineer

A vacancy has arisen for a Static Stress Engineer at Airbus UK to be based at our Filton site near Bristol.

 

As the successful candidate your principal activities will include:

·         Contribute to continued structural integrity of the A380 wing, by way of design developments and improvements:

-          Working as part of a small team, carry out static stress calculations to assess design solutions against the Aircraft Design requirements.

-          Liaise with other functions and suppliers to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated.

·         Assist in the structural design process to help ensure optimised design quality.

·         Report critical technical issues up through functional management.

·         Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements.

·         Provide technical leadership and approval for new participants; supply base and other sub-contracted work.

·         When required, undertake appropriate work scoping and planning tasks.

 

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:

·         Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent.

·         Proven experience as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of composite and metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.

·         The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems independently under pressure, whilst working in a team and (when required) to provide appropriate guidance to less experienced team members.

·         A good understanding of aircraft composites and metallic production methods and processes.

·         The ability to ensure that solutions are technically integrated across the whole project.

·         A high regard for both internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle.

·         Signatory Level or capability within 6 to 12 months.

·         An advanced level of English.

·         Experience of using Nastran / Patran.
