Nokia Location Commerce (formerly NAVTEQ) is set to become a core element of Nokia’s DNA that will spearhead our revised mission in mobile and location-based services.  Location Commerce will drive delivery of differentiated social location offerings for the wider ecosystem, targeting consumers, business customers and advertisers alike. We will create unique offerings, together with the Smart Devices and Mobile Phones business units, while ensuring our location platform becomes pervasive. We will build and monetize unique location experiences for great mobile products, the navigation industry and the automotive market.

 

The focus areas for the Location Commerce business are built around our core offerings:

 

·         Location content, delivering high-value data across platforms and industries

·         Applications, delivering an integrated suite of apps, across all operating systems

·         Location Platform, delivering the Map Platform and APIs, search and places

·         Local Commerce, creating a high-value advertising network, providing local commerce services for brands and merchants to accelerate revenue and profit

 

We are currently looking for a Statistician – 24953 in Chicago, IL

Responsibilities:

·         Provide support to the statistical needs of various departments within the company

·         Define statistical methods for spatial data analysis and quality evaluation

·         Provide advice on sampling method and sample size. In some projects, decide on sampling method and also perform sampling, and drive metrics

·         Perform statistical/mathematical analysis of data

·         Develop simple tools to handle basic statistical or other analytical needs, when required

·         Train other teams within the organization on basic statistical thinking and methods

 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Statistics, Master’s degree preferred

·         Minimum 5 years experience is preferred

·         Strong statistical methods and analysis skills required

·         Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and experience with using GIS tools for spatial data analysis is ideal

·         Experience with statistical tools such as Minitab, R, SAS, or Excel

·         Knowledge of software, oracle database, and UNIX concepts

·         Programming knowledge (VBA, C, or C++, etc) will be a plus

·         Application of Statistics in Quality area or Six Sigma green belt certification will be a plus

·         Excellent oral and written communications skills

·         Ability to explain statistics in simple terms to non-statisticians 

·         Ability to learn and expand in the role
