GoAhead Solutions is looking for a Storage Engineer responsible for overall management, operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the disk storage systems including design, architectural review, implementation, capacity planning, documentation and ongoing support. The scope of this position will include the Storage Area Networks (SANs), local storage on servers, archival and backup storage and various methods of data replication.
As an IS Engineering team member, this position will be primarily responsible for providing and maintaining uptime and appropriate capacity of the SAN systems in use, including local and remote data backup and replication functionality. He or she is expected to produce concise implementation and support documentation, as well as be able to hand off procedural tasks to other IS Department members. He or she can also be responsible for management, maintenance and monitoring of other network services as assigned, including the installation, repair and upgrades of servers, network infrastructure, and base software services for the distributed internal network.
This position is responsible for providing third-level escalation support for end-user issues and requests related to systems and applications supported by the Bank. This includes reviewing and resolving assigned trouble tickets and effectively communicating the resolution of end-user problems to the designated Support Technicians to ensure user satisfaction and productivity. This team member is also responsible for guiding Support Technicians and other engineers in providing expert and creative solutions to end-user problems, questions and troubleshooting techniques. At the direction of management, this staff position will coordinate systems integration projects with user departments and vendors to ensure compatibility and integration with organizational strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Performs activities required to deploy and support the enterprise storage infrastructure, including SAN (Fiber channel and iSCSI), NAS (NFS and CIFS), and direct-attached storage:
-Multi-protocol storage architecture
-Data protection strategies and implementations
-Storage provisioning
-Project planning
-Storage component selection, configuration planning, and procurement
-Hardware installation and maintenance, including lifting up to 50lbs to heights of up to 6ft
-Configuration and maintenance of storage component software
-Configuration and management of storage monitoring
-Performance analysis and capacity planning for storage infrastructure
-Data security configuration and management
-Identification, diagnosis, and resolution of storage-related problems
-Keep abreast of new technologies and recommend adoption as appropriate
-Identify areas for automation of other process improvement, make best practice recommendations and plan and lead implementation projects
-Train and mentor junior team members
-Participate in team on-call rotation
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
-Configuration of VMware ESX server and Vsphere software
•Assist with support of production systems
•Assist in establishing and enhancing regulatory and compliance processes
•Maintenance of asset information and other documentation
•Other duties and tasks as assigned
Experience/Skills Required:
•Thorough understanding of, and ability to apply, enterprise storage architecture and design principles, demonstrated by a minimum 3 years multi-protocol storage design and architecture experience, including both virtualized and non-virtualized environments
•Expert knowledge of Network Appliance (NetApp) equipment and software with a minimum 5 year’s experience administering NetApp storage in mission-critical, 7x24 production environments
•Solid understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols
•Demonstrated ability to implement storage infrastructure that complies with data security and data protection requirements for financial institutions
•Experience deploying and managing monitoring tools for storage infrastructure
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
•Ability to understand systems from all levels, from the “big picture” enterprise-level view to the low level technical view
•Experience leading technical projects, including planning, documentation, and implementation
•Demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot problems in complex systems and network environments
•Solid understanding of network and system security principles and techniques
•Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments in an environment that requires multitasking among multiple concurrent projects while also handling interrupts
•Strong interpersonal skills and able to lead effectively and influence without authority
•Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communications skills
Additional Desired Experience and Skills:
•Working knowledge of VMware ESX Server and VSphere software
•Enterprise-level system administration of Unix or Windows servers
•Experience with Active Directory and LDAP authentication systems
Education Requirements:
•Requires a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in a computer related field or the equivalent skill, knowledge and mental development.
