Storage Engineer Sr. Consultant
The Storage Engineer (SE) Sr. Consultant leads efforts to research, design, plan and maintain new and existing storage technology components. The SE ? Sr. Consultant is knowledgeable in enterprise storage and/or backup technologies including SAN and NAS, and will also have some understanding of the interaction between Storage and other technologies including Windows, UNIX, SQL, Oracle, Citrix, and VMWare. The Storage Engineer ? Sr. Consultant understands storage standards and is able to apply them in support of business needs within the Allstate environment. Key Responsibilities: Support production service requests, perform routine administration, and suppor storage and/or backup hardware and software infrastructure (i.e. Request Center, Change Order execution) Lead implementation and administration of storage technology components by analyzing the current system environment and infrastructure, using technical tools and utilities, and performing complex product customizations. Perform complex hardware and software technology component analysis, and evaluation on resource requirements necessary to maintain/expand service levels or tune hardware and software infrastructure components for optimum performance. Collaborate with other Storage Engineers to ensure that the modified hardware and software infrastructure interacts appropriately, data conversion impacts are considered, and other areas of impact are addressed and meet business function and performance requirements. Lead execution of testing, debugging, performance analysis, and documenting hardware and software technology components. Lead efforts to ensure plans integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical hardware and software components. Develop and maintain tools for the use of maintaining, modifying and monitoring hardware and software technology components Develop plans to meet required service levels; design data collection and reporting mechanisms for technology component health reporting. Support Technician and Sr. Technician level Storage Engineers in project management, planning and estimating, reporting, scheduling, and workflow; guide junior level Storage Engineers in these processes.
