PetPeople is a locally owned and operated pet retailer that strives to be the local market headquarters for quality, natural foods and upscale pet supplies for dogs and cats.  We need a pet enthusiast Store Manager-In-Training with a strong retail management background to join our Columbus team!

 

We specialize in delivering great customer service through educating consumers on pet health, well-being and happiness. We are highly selective about the products we carry and fully stand behind everything we sell.  Our associates are friendly, knowledgeable pet enthusiasts that love what they do. They enjoy entertaining customers and their pets during a visit as well as offering advice and answering questions.

 

Duties and responsibilities of this position include:

·       Hire, train, develop, supervise and motivate a team of full and part-time Associates.
·         Ensure excellent service is delivered to every customer.
·         Develop creative plans to increase store sales and decrease loss.
·         Provide training and development for an Assistant Store Manager and Associates.
·         Manage store expenses and payroll to best address the needs of the business.
·         Ensure the proper processing and display of merchandise to drive sales and enhance the visual presentation of the store.
·         Manage and direct the daily activity of the sales floor.
·         Market in the community with animal-welfare groups and related business partners.

Qualifications
·         A genuine interest in animal nutrition and welfare.
·         Minimum 2 + years experience in retail management; previous pet industry experience is preferred.
·         The proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop a store team.
·         Excellent communication skills.
·         Strong analysis and problem solving ability.
·         Strong leadership skills.
·         Independently plan and manage workload, delegate work, supervise and monitor store associates.
·         Ability to move merchandise up to 50 pounds frequently.
·         Strong initiative and self-motivation.
