Strategic Assistant to the Group General Counsel ( chief of staff ) recruitment
Our client is a global leading Health Care corporation.
The role will report directly to the Group General Counsel and will lead a small team of currently five law professionals and paralegals. The positions key purposes are to assist the Group General Counsel by efficiently executing requests, to support meeting preparations, to proactively identify and resolve upcoming issues and requests, to improve processes and to manage and lead projects in the Legal Function. The incumbent will act as a sparring partner to the Group General Counsel in structuring, operating and setting appropriate criteria for the performance measurement of the legal function. The position’s main responsibilities are defined in the role profile and include:
General support to the Group General Counsel:
- Preparing internal and external presentations for the GGC
- Handling daily tasks as requested by the GGC
- Preparing GGC correspondence upon request
- Leading/participating in key Group projects
- Developing/managing Corporate Legal budget
- Fulfilling selected administrative work for the GGC office
Secretary to the Legal Leadership Team (“LLT”):
- Monthly meeting preparation, incl. independent drafting of agenda, gathering pre-read documents, uploading of pre-read documents to the LLT sharepoint site
- Taking minutes
- Dealing with various follow-up tasks from meeting
- Assisting Group General Counsel Performance Review/Target process as part of the LLT Meeting
- Organizing a number of LLT events per year Ensures onboarding of new LLT members
Managing and leading Group Legal Projects and Initiatives:
- Legal Spend Management
- Panel Review (Outside Counsel)
- Knowledge Management
- Benchmarking
The scope of the role is broad and requires both hands on and detailed technical and practical competence as well as broader context and business knowledge.
The Requirements
- Law degree
- Experience in the legal function in a corporate or professional services firm
- solid German skills
Ideal candidates have experience in and can bring along know-how in management consulting best practises: Balanced Score Card; Performance Measurement: Resource Management – Staffing; Project Management. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the ability and mindset to be solution seeking, to be innovative and pro-active thinkers and have a proven track record of such applied experience. They will also need to possess a strong performance orientation and the ability to argue fact based and produce pragmatic and complexity reduced presentations, which serve as decision making platforms.
