Strategic Chemical Buyer (m/f) Job in Geel 2440, Antwerp Belgium

For a company in Olen, world leader in serving science, we are currently looking for a strategic chemical buyer for a contract of 6 months.

The goal of the company is to serve customers within pharmaceutical and biotech companies, hospitals and clinical diagnostic labs, universities, research institutions and government agencies, as well as in environmental and process control industries.

 

Job description:

 

The main purpose of the position is the sourcing of chemical products for catalogue business. The position will contribute to efficient supplier and spend management and company objectives while meeting customer requirements. The job holder is the initial and primary contact with the suppliers. Besides the sourcing responsibility the position will also contribute improve purchasing effectiveness and supplier performance to support organizational goals and objectives as there are:

· The provision of a safe, secure and efficient working environment as well as on-time and high quality delivery of chemical products

· In general, an improvement of CAS

· Meet or exceed the service level targets

· Source material which will pass our specifications

· Meet or exceed saving targets

· Reduction of inventory

 

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

· Negotiate the best quality/price/availability ratio conform the requirements

· Set up contracts with suppliers

· Have strong influencing skills be able to build an argument in order to orientate suppliers to propose appropriate, cost effective and added value offers

· Implement cost reduction and sourcing savings

· Generate and implement new ‘out of the box’ ideas to reduce costs and increase availability

· Understand and monitor key spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic considerations and strategic importance of critical products in order to implement appropriate sourcing strategiesDrive continuous improvement projects and initiatives to improve performance in overall supply costs, service level and quality conform the guidelines

· Prepare requests for information/quotation, evaluate suppliers, analyze quotations

· Reduce inventory levels and improve vendor service levels while strengthening the supply base to support long term growth

· Develop and implement strategic purchasing programs at key-suppliers

· Identify and establish innovative purchasing opportunities

· Plan and manage purchasing activities according to relevant procedures to meet desired customer service levels

· Evaluate and select suppliers and also acquire a good knowledge of the suppliers in the market

· Measure and take responsibility for the supplier’s performance in the area of quality, service and cost conform the requirements

· Resolve customer complaints with suppliers and report results and corrective actions to customer service/QC

· Set up corrective actions with suppliers in case the delivery does not comply with health, safety and environmental laws and regulations or in case of an incident within the company

· Work and coordinate with other divisions of the company globally to leverage materials and supply opportunities

· Be a pro-active solution provider to customer service by anticipating needs and requests in order to offer a fast and efficient service to our customers

· Pro-actively manage the supply base to reduce risks and ensure continued supply of critical components to meet requirements

· Track and create tables/databases with relevant information of suppliers, costs, products etc.

· Propose changes of the sourcing process to the European Sourcing Manager where appropriate

· Communicate with the suppliers on topics related to REACH

 

Requirements:

 

· Bachelor(A1) or Master degree (chemical background is a plus)

· Experience in purchasing

· Worldwide chemical market experience

· PC-Knowledge: Outlook, Excel with strong spreadsheet skills, Word

· Fluency in English

· Knowledge of REACH is preferred
