Strategic Sales Consultant
Position Description:
The purpose of the Sales Strategic Consultant is to be a key strategic resource to the Enterprise and Employer Sales teams. This position will partner with the Regional Sales Directors and assist in the development and implementation of territory and target account plans as well as provide sales support for the Enterprise and Employer teams' segment growth initiatives through sales lead program management, proposal process, and sales project coordination.
As part of this position, the Sales Strategic Consultant will interact with segments of the OptumRx organization outside of the assigned sales team including sales managers, account managers, pricing analysts, reporting analysts, business development managers (BDM), proposal development analysts (PDA) as well as brokers/consultants and business partner contacts. This position will also interact with other parts of UnitedHealthcare/Optum benefits and other services groups. The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to sales successes through day-to-day support of the Sales teams.
Support Territory Planning and Lead Development Process:
Collaborate with identified sales leads and sales leadership to develop and refine a territory plan, using the Territory Planning/Target Account Selling (TAS) and Dealmaker methodology. Manage the completion of all aspects of the planning tools in collaboration with the Regional Sales Director (RSD). Assist the RSD in updating the Territory Plan annually and/or as required, based on the status of prospects within the territory. Ensure accuracy of information in the Territory Plan
Proposal Process Management:
Actively participate through the proposal process to assist the assigned RSD and sales leadership with proposal retrieval from bidding sources/sites and the review, preparation and triage to the proposal development team. Review bidding sites for updates and amendments as needed. Assist the RSDs with initial development of sales strategy and related documentation (i.e., strategy memo/PRF, Salesforce.com). Participate in RFP strategy calls and assist the RSD in providing strategic direction to the proposal team (i.e., BDM, PDA) as needed to complete accurate, quality and competitive proposals. Participate in sales review of proposals and provide guidance/direction to proposal team, to ensure overall delivery dates are met. When appropriate, identify areas where standard proposal responses can be customized to meet prospect's needs.
Operational/Sales Executive Support:
Provide high level support for Enterprise sales team including assisting with preparation for finalist meetings and capability presentations. Manage special projects on an as-needed basis to support the success of the sales organization or business as they arise. Facilitate or participate in various internal team meetings/training/presentations, external conferences and other related events in support of business development goals.
