Responsibilities:
Overview:
- Establishing and managing the group wide project management office (PMO)
- Leading and managing strategy related assignments
- Support the extraction of strategic value from existing investments
- Supporting the Head of Strategy on other special projects
1. Group PMO:
Establish and roll out a Group wide Project Management Office (PMO) by establishing the required methodology, governance, policies, processes and infrastructure
Foster a project management culture across the group and provide assistance/ coaching where necessary
Provide guidance on the prioritization and definition of projects in alignment with the Groups overall strategy
Manage the project portfolio maintaining a forward looking view / plan
Monitor and steer projects to ensure successful completion within the defined time, budget and scope and report on its progress on a regular basis
2. Corporate Development
- Lead and manage strategy related assignments from problem analysis, concept development right through to implementation (e.g. hypothesis formulation, analyses, market sizing, benchmarking and base-lining exercises, frameworks and strategic recommendations, financial models and implementation roadmaps)
- Scan the investment portfolio/ individual investments for opportunities to extract strategic value.
- Identify opportunities to share best practices (and if applicable synergies) across portfolio companies in alignment with the respective investment strategies
- Perform best practice research studies and competitive analysis on a regular basis.
3. Organizational Development
Establish, roll out and manage the department
Identify related areas for professional development to ensure career progression
Ensure the hiring, onboarding, provision of relevant guidance, direction and training to subordinates to develop and enhance their skills
Maintain utmost confidentiality with respect to the information obtained during the carrying out of day-to-day duties/ responsibilities
Who we are looking for:
- Post graduate university degree or an MBA from top tier academic institution with focus on strategy and finance
- Minimum of 8-10 years experience for director position or 5-8 years for Associate Director position depending on experience in a related corporate development / PMO / strategy role
- The incumbent should have worked in one of the top tier strategy consulting firms as well as ideally bring practical experience from a well renowned international financial services/ investment management related institution
- Successful establishment and management of a PMO in the past and previous experience as a responsible project manager
- Proven track record and substantial management experience in a diverse management environment
- Track record of executing strategy assignments from concept to implementation
- Demonstrated career development, progress, and excellent team leadership skills and potential
Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling as well as project management tool.
- Ability to live and drive the top management agenda combined with a “roll sleeves up and execute” mentality
- Ability to take initiative, act as a driver of change and work in a fast-growing, multi-cultural environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (Arabic is an asset)
- High degree of methodological-conceptual skills
- Ability to demonstrate thought leadership, strategic thinking and problem solving
- Strong stakeholder and project management skills with the ability to communicate and influence effectively across the organization
- Strong result driven individual with ability to provide high quality deliverables
- Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate subordinates
