Strategy Manager - Uxbridge
The Strategy Manager (SM)) will report to Head of Strategy, Portfolio Architecture. The role will be accountable for the overall IT strategy and would require coordination and oversight of all Functions strategy work.
The purpose of the SM role is to develop, implement and maintain a 3-5 year overarching ITS Strategy, aligned appropriately with client strategies. This is to effectively support of a diverse, challenging and growing portfolio. It actively supports the development and implementation of Functional strategies and maintains them through an appropriate pan-Functions governance model. Key role responsibilities include (but not limited to):
·Definition, implementation and maintenance of an overarching, effective and aligned Strategy and all of its sub-streams like capability, delivery excellence, operational integrity, applications, vendor, etc.
·Thought leader for development and deployment of strategies
·Governance of the ITS Strategy with specific focus on investment and operating cost performance
·Implementation and management of the Functional overarching governance model.
Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Planning
·Develop and maintain Strategy, vision and roadmap planning and execution aligned with various strategies across the enterprise and industry trends. Working with the directors and businesses, The SM is accountable for setting up priorities for the development and implementation specific strategies
·Support Functions and Business strategy definition and implementation
·Support annual planning cycles through the implementation of agreed vision and roadmap across ITS.
Strategy Performance
·Monitor the alignment of key projects to the Strategic Plan on an ongoing basis and report to the CIO and the Leadership Team, ensuring the delivery of key milestones, short and long-term metrics.
·Provide assurance that all Functions adhere with ITS policies and standard Governance processes.
·Support Functions Directors CIO's in Governance Boards
·Drive Continuous Improvement to strategic planning and execution through external liaison with non-competitive peer organisations and advisory groups.
Functions Communication
·Development and implementation of a communications framework and schedule to maintain Functions strategic alignment
Essential Criteria:
A key success factor for the role will be the ability to credibly liaise with and influence at a strategic level with the Executives
The role requires someone with a broad strategic view, combined with a pragmatic and delivery focussed mindset, plus Functional and technical expertise. The candidate should have experience in developing IT strategies in large businesses or organisation with annual budgets of over $200m. The right candidate will have credible experience in the management and implementation of significant transformation programmes. In addition, they will be highly customer focused and will be able to demonstrate communication and presentation skills to the level expected for senior audiences.
·Awareness of the oil industry with respect to the oil super-majors
·Knowledge of corporate functions and their business models
·Experience of leading strategy development across relevant corporate environments
·Experience of successfully managing significant business process and technology change projects
·Related experience working in similar IT organisations for at least 10 years
·Insights into current and emerging technologies that will impact on future architecture and strategic architecture
·Strong leadership and influencing at all levels - able to build credibility and relationships through well-developed inter-personal skills
·Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
·The ability to cope with complexity and ambiguity and be highly motivated and delivery focused
·Rigour and attention to detail, and the application of standards
· Ability to motivate and inspire people to achieve results
