Summary: Conducts structural analysis of Landing Gear and Systems components working within the F-35 integrated product development team reporting to the stress lead.

Supports research in such fields as failure analysis, finite elements, methods of stress analysis, thermal effects, fatigue, and fracture mechanics.

Assigns work to junior engineers, coordinate these tasks, and reviews their reports.

Provides expert knowledge of strength, ability, residual strength, fatigue, and fracture analyses of detail designs of landing gear and flight control structural components using both computer modeling and analysis methods and classical calculation methods.

Using expert knowledge executes stress analysis activities including:
* Liaise with customer/suppliers regarding stress related design issues.
* Fosters strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency and credibility.

Compliance:
Ensures compliance to Goodrich engineering methodologies by providing direction/guidance to the stress team.
Maintains compliance to ITAR and regulatory requirements

Performs other duties as required

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering is required.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis in the aerospace industry is required.
* Ability to analyze structural designs using computing tools such as MathCAD, ABAQUS or Ansys is desirable.
* Expert knowledge of analysis of structural repairs for landing gear and flight control structural components is desirable.
* Working knowledge of CATIA is preferred.
* Ability to prepare and review detailed stress reports.
* Ability to review drawings with other company disciplines and provide structures input.
* Ability to define structural test requirements for laboratory and full-scale testing.
* Ability to review test results and correlate with analytical models.
* Must possess good understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes
* Ability to review overall design and provide structures input at PDR CDR
* Maintains compliance to ITAR and regulatory requirements (must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident).
* Must be able to travel occasionally between customer/suppliers and Goodrich locations.
