No Security Clearance Required about security clearance definitions Position Description The Space Exploration division in Houston is seeking a Structural Analysis Lead for their Houston Design Center (HDC). The HDC Structural Analysis Lead seeks out and secures workshare opportunities throughout the Enterprise. Develops long-term partnership relationships with customers/partners at other Enterprise sites. This position will be the nucleus and lead of a stress design sub-team within the HDC and will identify opportunities to partner and support other sites, then hire, train, coach and mentor additional structural analysis engineers to support Enterprise needs. Evaluates the skills and abilities of the structural analysis sub-team and fosters continuous learning within the sub-team to grow marketable structural analysis skills for the HDC that are extensible to the Space Exploration division. Extensive experience with BCA 787 processes and tools is highly desired. Preferred tools include Nastran/Patran, Nasgro, Hypermesh, Abacus, Catia V5, Enovia. Experience with Structures Workstation (SWS) tools including Analysis Notes Index (IDA), Damage Tolerance Analysis Software (DTANAL), Finite Element Analysis Data Management System (FEADMS), Integrated Analysis System (IAS), Material Database (MATDB), and Section Analysis (SA) is a plus. Must be proficient with basic sizing, free body development, composite methods, metallic methods, fatigue analysis and linear/non-linear FEM. Knowledge of/experience with composite stress analysis methods. Position requires 30% domestic travel to other Enterprise sites (i.e. Everett WA, Huntsville AL and Philadelphia PA) to both market the HDC capabilities to BCA and other Enterprise sites and perform work for those sites. Lead will have the financial acumen to set up Interdivisional Work Authorizations (IWAs) and Interdivisional Control Account Authorizations (ICAAs) as-needed to facilitate the funding of workshare arrangement. Proficient in managing work output of a sub-team to satisfy a diverse group of customers by consistently identifying and accomplishing highly critical activities amidst a large number of competing demands. Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance of the product. Leads development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Works with customers and regulatory agencies to define certification processes that will ensure requirements are met. Reviews and approves certification results. Defines and organizes test programs to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements. Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.
