Aeronautics, a business area of Saab, offers advanced airborne systems, related subsystems, unmanned aerial systems, aerostructures and services to defence customers and commercial aerospace industries worldwide. Aeronautics is also responsible for development, production, marketing, selling and supporting of the Gripen fighter.

Within Aeronautics there is a need to strengthen the capacity to participate in development projects for Aircraft systems and Research and Technology initiatives.

The Section of Military Airframe Stress Engineering is undergoing an intense phase of expansion and needs to be strengthened. The Section is part of the area Structural Technology and is responsible for the strength substantiation of the structure of our military aircrafts, primarily in terms of further development of JAS39 Gripen but also for example for the development of the UAV system Neuron. The work includes both static sizing and life-cycle design using a variety of both in-house and commercial tools.
Another central part of the sizing process is related to structural testing in order to verify the calculations and certify the aircraft structure or part of the structure.

Your role
As an Airframe Stress Engineer, you work in cross functional project teams together with functions from several different areas of expertise such as structural technology, design, production technology, systems and more. Together we define concepts and develop optimal airframe solutions in terms of technology, lead time and cost. The role includes static sizing, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis, from concept studies of design principles and materials to optimization of structural components.
 
Your qualifications
To the employment we are seeking a driven employee with a strong interest in developing within the field Airframe Stress Engineering. You are engaged and purposeful and finds it easy to work in teams. Flexibility, analytical skills and an outgoing personality are other qualities that are important for this service.

The applicant for the post has an M.Sc. degree with specialization in structural strength, mechanics and light weight structures but also aviation technology.
Contacts with customers, suppliers, research institutes and partners require a good ability to express him/herself spoken or written.
Good English language skills are a prerequisite.
