Structural Engineer/Design Manager Job in Nisku, Alberta Canada

 

Overview:

Pyramid Process Fabricators a division of Pyramid Corporation is currently looking for a Professional Structural Engineer for the Nisku office. The individual in this position is responsible to provide mechanical, welding and general engineering and design deliverables as determined by project scope. The Engineer shall evaluate, prepare, or provide engineering design guidelines, develop detailed designs from concept stage, and provide design and engineering solutions applicable to project deliverables, which may include scope, quality, schedule, and budgets.

Duties Responsibilities:

·         Prepare design for building skids, structural steel, ladders and platforms.

·         Prepare/check calculations and drawings per Client specifications and the Applicable code.

·         Highly knowledgeable with CSA/NB/ABSA/CWB Codes, regulations and standards.

·         Very good team player with aptitude for innovation.

·         Capable of working in a fast paced environment with organized methods.

·         Excellent quality and safety awareness.

·         Plan, co-ordinate, and self manage the engineering and design of work as it is directly related to the project scope.

·         Ensure required engineering activities are coordinated to meet project budgets, scope, schedule, and deliverables.

·         Prepare to provide P.Eng. stamp to confirm engineering design as required.

·         Be required to interact with clients, consultants, external and internal customers.

·         Work closely with the Planning Department and Operations Department to ensure scheduling information and project milestones are identified, clearly communicated, and regularly monitored. Work closely with these departments to ensure all productivity targets are being identified, monitored, and achieved. Preparation of mitigation plans when needed.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities Personal Characteristics:

·         Strong time management skills, self motivator, and ability to handle a multitude of tasks.

·         Strong and thorough technical knowledge of engineering principles as it pertains to the design and construction of steel fabrication structural engineering.

·         Awareness of various applicable standards of practice (ANSI/ASME B31.2, 31.4, 31.8, VIII, IX)

·         Thorough knowledge of acceptable construction practices and sound engineering methods as it pertains to flare stacks, and skid mounted products.

·         Resource planning and technical issue assessment capability to determine time, effort, and the resources necessary to complete engineering related tasks and deliverables.

·         Ability to prepare plans, specifications, schedules and cost estimates.

Education Other:

·         Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, structural disciplines) or the equivalent from an accredited college or university.

·         Must have a P.Eng. Designation with registration to practice in Alberta and in good standing with APEGGA

·         Knowledge of AutoCad, Cadworks, Compress, S-Frame, AutoPlant, HYSYS software is helpful.
