Structural Engineers- Chicago, IL
Job Description The Chicago, IL office will have openings for Structural Engineers at all levels. Responsibilities: * Deliver complete, accurate and coordinated project calculations, plans, specifications and technical papers within time and budget parameters while satisfying client and contractual obligations. * Certify documents as requested by the engineering director. * Develop and communicate to other discipline team members overall project goals and constraints including client objectives, design criteria, construction and design budget parameters and schedule requirements. * Interact and communicate effectively and professionally with other team members, the client and external agencies. * Assure execution of and assist with quality assurance activities for all engineering elements on a project. * Maintain, organize and archive all project related documents. * Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing review, change order preparation and field problem resolution. * Develop, maintain and upgrade, in conjunction with the engineering director, discipline design standards, theory and expertise to maintain an industry leadership role. * Assist in marketing company services as directed by engineering director. Requirements: * Thorough understanding of all engineering design tasks associated with system selection, evaluation and design, management, planning and direction of project construction documents. * Ability to plan, execute and take responsibility for several large design and construction phase projects and special assignments simultaneously. * Must possess a detailed understanding of various regulatory building codes; extensive knowledge of current design and analysis techniques and construction materials and methods. * Working knowledge of design production techniques, including computer software and ability to use Building Information Modeling. * Detailed knowledge of A/E/C professional practice including contractual relationships, liability and public safety; well developed and effective communication, marketing, teaching and leadership skills. * Bachelor s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school * Registered professional engineer in at least one state by examination (8 hours FE and 8 hours PP) for senior level positions. * 0-15 years related experience in A/E/C professional practice, major construction company or related agency.
