Junior/Assistant Structural Steel Estimator
Job Summary
This position will report to the General Manager. The Estimator will work with the Operations Manager and Project Manager to prepare structural steel and miscellaneous steel fabrication quotations for customers and bid proposals in both commercial and industrial markets. The estimator will do material take-off, CAD takeoff and entry into Fabtrol system as part of the estimating and bid functions.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Quantifies number of hours and materials to fabricate structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
Evaluates all contract documents including all bid drawings, specifications, general conditions and if necessary the project site.
Determines scope of work and bid clarifications to ensure the companies best interests are first and foremost.
Assists Project Management staff with pricing issues on major project revisions.
Work with the Shop Foreman to keep the project within scope, timeline, and budget.
Build strong relationships with staff, customers, vendors and service providers.
Provides analyses of completed jobs and bids lost for management
Preferred Experience and Skills
Ability to take-off structural steel and miscellaneous steel quantities from design documents and drawings.
High school diploma at a minimum. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience with miscellaneous metals preferred.
Good language skills, both written and oral.
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel Fabtrol.
