The Department
The EMEA Structured Finance Group reviews a wide range of complex and innovative products, including mortgage and asset backed securities, collateralised bond obligations, credit derivatives and asset backed commercial paper and repackaged bond transactions.
The EMEA Structured Finance Group is segregated into seven main areas:
- ABS – Asset Backed Securities
- ABCP – Asset Backed Commercial Paper
- Structured Credit – Collateralised Loan and Debt Obligations (CLOs/CDOs), Repackaged bonds
- MBS – (Residential) Mortgage Backed Securities
- CMBS – Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities Property Related Operating Deals
- Covered Bonds

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring a portfolio of CLO/CDO transactions and conducting research. The analyst is expected to analyze all credit aspects of a structured credit transaction by leveraging and interacting with analysts from a large variety of credits in the corporate finance, financial institutions, public finance as well as other structured finance sectors. The type of transactions the team covers includes primarily arbitrage CLOs, balance sheet CLOs, SMEs, Structured Finance CDOs, synthetic CDOs, repacks, and a variety of esoteric transactions.
- Review performance reports to form a view on the likely effect on ratings
- Review deal documents
- Run models and evaluate model results
- Present credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings
- Interact with teams of the various underlying credits to be updated on the latest trends and methodologies
- Write or participate in the writing of research, in CLO interest, SCP, Credit Insight, or WCO or any special reports on relevant topics
- Conduct outreach activities and build effective communication and provide good service to investors and managers, to help them understand our methodology, rating activities as well as our sector insights
- Attend Moody’s sponsored and external conferences
- Take part in special projects
- Mentor junior analysts by involving them in analysis of transactions
- Maintain and update the performance of a portfolio of transactions
Qualifications
- BSc (or equivalent) in a financial, economic, mathematical or statistical related degree discipline
- MSc within finance/economics preferred
Languages
- Fluency in English is essential, other languages an advantage
Experience
- Experience within a financial institution, corporate or consulting firm required
- Previous experience in structured finance desirable
- Solid credit or modelling skills logical analytical thought process
- Good understanding of financial markets
- Willing to learn and enjoy working in challenging work environment
Technical
- Strong working knowledge of Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and any statistical software
