Structured Finance Credit Analyst – Frankfurt recruitment

Role overview

The European Structured Finance team is extending its local presence in Germany and will add a new rating analyst to the German team, based in Frankfurt. The German team is in charge of assigning and maintaining the rating of structured finance transactions, such as Auto Loan and Lease Securitisations, Collateralised Loan Obligations including loans to small and medium sized as well as large entities, Residential Mortgage Backed Securitisations and Commercial Mortgage Backed Securitisations, as well as other transaction types mainly relating to German, Austrian or Swiss assets.

The Frankfurt Structured Finance team has currently 8 analysts covering all transaction types. The team places a high priority on the quality of its analysis, transparency of its research and its responsiveness to market participants.

Based in Frankfurt you will focus on rating new as well as maintaining timely and prospective ratings on existing German, Austrian and Swiss Structured Finance transactions. While an asset focus will be agreed, this can - subject to your current experience - include any of the four covered by the team (ABS, SME CLOs, CMBS, RMBS). The daily tasks include collecting and analysing portfolio data, the review of legal documentation and analysis of the transaction structure as well as communication with counterparties. You will be expected to write credit analysis reports and press releases on rated structured finance transactions. In addition, you will participate in criteria developments across products and regions.

Within this position you will conduct an in-depth quantitative credit risk analysis of the portfolio assets. Additionally you will consider the individual transaction waterfall, as well as interest rate and/or currency mismatches between the portfolio assets and the structured finance bonds as part of cash flow modelling the transaction structure. You will conduct qualitative assessments of the operational risks based on on-site reviews at the issuers. Furthermore, you will review all relevant laws and regulations, legal opinions and relevant documentation.

The role gives the analyst the ability to work in the European Structured Finance business with a number of market participants, in all types of Structured Finance products. Analysts may be based in London for short periods, where training will be given on a one-to-one basis within small working teams and by in-house seminars on various topics.

Person profile

You will posses a sound academic track record to at least first university degree level with a specialty in finance or statistical sciences. Work experience of up to about two years is regarded as a plus while the position is generally open for graduates. The successful candidate must demonstrate a familiarity with the financial markets, preferably with fixed income instruments including structured finance products.

Due to the nature of the role, numeracy and computer proficiency is a pre-requisite, including use of excel functions and application of modelling skills. It is essential that you are fluent in German and English, orally and in writing, and are able to formulate and delivering concise opinion, facts and arguments both verbally and in writing.

Further postgraduate study and fluency in another European language will be positively considered. Multicultural experience is a plus, such as time spent studying or working abroad.
