I am currently recruiting for a Sub-Rights Team Leader to join the Royalty Department at a publishing company in Frating, Essex. The Sub Rights team within Royalties are responsible for ensuring that the financial elements of rights contracts are interpreted into the royalty system correctly and that Licensee’s financial statements and payments are allocated accurately.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day running of the sub-rights team with strong emphasis on supervising and motivating the team, managing the workload, improving performance / current processes and answering sub-rights queries.

Responsibilities of the role include:

· Learn all aspects of the work covered by the sub-rights team in enough detail to assist with queries and help with inputting during the busy periods. In particular:-
o Checking that the Licensee’s contracts are set up correctly
o Processing statements and income
o Invoicing
o Credit control
· Ensure that any non-standard income processing is correct
· Check that changes to head contract parties are reflected in existing sub-rights deals and income already posted
· Regularly review outstanding cash and report to the Royalty Manager
o Liaise with team members to help clear the more significant or older transactions on a timely basis
· Post journals to SAP for income that needs to be transferred
· Regularly check income that has been written off eg withholding tax, bank charges etc
· Produce reports of income received for the rights departments
· Provide cover for the sub-rights credit controller
· Closely monitor the team’s workload and prioritise work according to deadlines and targets. Report any issues to the Royalty Manager
· Review team member’s KPIs / statistics on a monthly basis and address any areas of concern
· Assist with staff recruitment and induction
· Train and develop staff within the team and recognise any future training needs
· Carry out performance reviews on an annual basis with mini-reviews in between

To be considered for this role you must have previous experience of:
· Team leadership/management experience (including managing regular one-to-ones, yearly reviews, absence management meetings etc.)
· Training
· Experience in a high volume transaction business area where accuracy is essential
· Strong numerical skills
· Strong capabilities in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
