Subject Matter Expert, Derivatives recruitment

Role

The incumbent will undertake an analyst role in derivative initiatives for both existing and new clients. He / She will be responsible for working with different operational and technology groups in order to provide solutions to a client's derivatives servicing needs.  He/She will be responsible for understanding and documenting client requirements and making recommendations based on current and future derivative offerings.  The incumbent will collaborate with other internal departments to continuously enhance and improve our service offering.  He/She will represent the company’s capabilities and services by participating in client sales presentations, visits, and service calls. The incumbent will be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation to be used in sales presentations, due diligence exercises and respective client and RFP responses. He/she will report direct to the Team Manager and work under their supervision to determine and agree best solutions to client's needs.

This position is part of the Derivatives Services Group (DSG) management team, reporting to the Location Manager, and as such would participate in any group related initiatives

Responsibilities

The incumbent will have a good understanding of the firm’s internal system capabilities as well as industry knowledge in Derivative Middle/Back Office and Custody services.  These include, but are not limited to: Collateral Management, Portfolio Reconciliation, Confirmation/Affirmation, lifecycle events, and trade/cash communication between the firm and respective custodians. The incumbent will have a good understanding of various derivative products both OTC and ETD based and will need to present to internal operational departments as well as clients. He/She will participate in new product offerings and in internal strategy initiatives targeted towards improved services, scalability, productivity, profitability, and operational efficiencies.

• Business analysis / Sales:

• Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regard to existing and new product offerings, gathering client requirements and leading the client's "best fit " analysis to determine how to solution clients derivative servicing needs.  Participates in internal strategic initiatives targeted towards improving services, scalability, productivity and operational efficiencies.  Evaluates the impact and operational risk of services and makes recommendations to minimize exposure. Works under supervision of Team Manager to determine 'best fit solution'.

• Participates in new business initiatives with Sales Marketing staff, including responding to RFI (Requests for Information) and RFP (Request for Proposal).  Participates in client visits and presentations, representing the company’s services related to derivative services and identifying high-level client requirements or procedures.  Leads client discussions and provides industry and product expertise when explaining market practices and regulatory requirements.

• Client Service:

• Acts as a subject matter expert on all new product offerings designed to expand the derivatives services offered to our clients.  Will participate in client visits, sales presentations, and periodic service calls, representing company Global Derivatives services and identifying high-level client requirements or procedures.  Offers solutions and recommendations as the requirements change or unfold.

• Acts as a resource to the Derivative Service's Group (DSG) and global derivative operational teams enabling them to perform as the client advocate and coordinator with regards to company Derivative Services

• Training/Industry:

• Potential to represent the company at industry forums, seminars, and committees as it relates to derivative products and initiatives.  Participates on working committees to establish best practices, set industry direction, and represent the needs of the firm.  Communicates discussions and decisions to the Global Derivatives Managers and other interested parties, and assess the impacts to current operational practices and procedures

Person Specification

• Good understanding of various derivative products including both OTC and ETD.

• Industry and product awareness in Collateral Management, OTC Reconciliations, Confirmations/Affirmations, FPML and SWIFT, Derivative Product Life-Cycles and trends.

• The ability to work with a team of individuals providing a high-level service to clients.  The understanding of all Derivative Service offerings and the teams and departments involved in delivering the required services.

• The overall complexity and ever changing landscape of the derivative environment lead to many complex problems to resolve for clients.  New products, regulations, and services are often introduced that require quick action to maintain an adequate level of client satisfaction. This position requires that the incumbent has the ability to effectively listen to client requirements and provide reliable solutions to their needs.

• The individual is required to coordinate client deliverables with management and senior associates in other internal departments to ensure client needs/demands are met.  The incumbent also has direct contact with external clients.  Given the nature of the environment, the incumbent must possess a strong sense of urgency, demonstrate flexibility and creativity and be in a position to respond quickly.

• This position is required to interact with senior associates of various internal departments.  He/She may also be required to represent the firm at industry events and should be capable of effectively communicating company requirements.  This position will also require the incumbent to directly interact with external clients and vendors with regards to company requirements and service offerings.
