Duties
Bowhead is seeking a candidate who can manage a research program in Control Theory with a special emphasis on emerging areas of micro-manipulation and control of multi-agent autonomous systems. The candidate will define and extend the research program in ways that will help the Army and DoD build autonomous systems of the future, coordinate with other DoD agencies and labs that have related goals, and help the administration at ARO defend the technical program to outside leadership.

Examples of tasks to be performed Include:

Identify areas that have high scientific merit and excellent Army relevance by following the literature, talking to investigators, by reading proposals and attending workshops or conferences related to Multi-Agent Network Control. Follow through with preparing written recommendations for funding in new areas or topics and, when necessary, make oral presentations to defend recommendations.

Participate in site visits to funded scientists and programs, and provide an assessment of the work being performed.

Assess research opportunities through evaluation of white papers and proposals for the Multi-Agent Network Control Program. Follow through with arranging for external evaluation of the proposals and prepare recommendations for funding.

Analyze and review quarterly/annual reports and manuscripts to assess technical progress.

Prepare materials for program reviews and present a coherent story of investment in Multi-Agent Network Control to Boards of visitors and visiting scientists.

Provide support to the division Chief and the directorate Director in generating statistics to measure effectiveness of the investment program.

Communicate with investigators and ARL/ Army scientists to arrange for collaboration or technology transfer.
