The Superintendent, Marine Safety/Technical is responsible for supporting shipboard technical related issues including training, investigations and emergency planning. Maintain systems that support the shipboard safety plans and provide monitoring and analysis for accidents, incidents and non-conformities. Track and follow-up on corrective actions related to the Technical issues.

- Monitor shipboard accident reports in the AIRTS program (Accident/Incident Reporting and Tracking System) program. Develop metrics and analyze results.
- Participate in and follow-up on corrective action from Internal/External Audits, Masterÿs Annual Review, AIRTS reports and other ISM required oversight and assurance programs.
- Provide content-based support and training for the AIRTS database and monitor shipboard reports for accuracy.
- Conduct investigations of shipboard incidents and accidents as required, including root cause analysis, and internal follow-up action plans.
- Develop Reports and Lessons Learned training documents based on internal and external accident investigations.
- Maintain expertise in safety related regulatory issues with particular focus on IMO, Industry, Flag State and Port State standards and regulations.
- Develop safety assurance programs to determine areas of risk which need to be addressed and implement programs to mitigate that risk.
- Represent the company and industry at IMO meetings and other industry related events/meetings.
- Develop, update and implement shipboard emergency response procedures and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
- Assist with support of shipboard Safety Plans including fire control plans and evacuation plans.
- Review, develop and implement policies and procedures for new or improved safety requirements or safety related equipment.
- Coordinate safety related standards among RCL brands and ensure consistent implementation and operational approach to safety.
- Monitor regulatory safety training compliance including training provided shipboard personnel and by external vendors. Maintain RCL training tracking database.
- Provide quality assurance for shoreside safety training facilities used by RCCL.
- Coordinate development and implementation of safety training programs.
- Assist in maintenance of Safety page on the Maritime Safety intranet web site.
- Bachelors degree or a minimum of 5 years of maritime experience is required with primary responsibilities in the marine technical or nautical field.
- Maritime Engineering or Deck License
