The fully integrated manufacturing operations of Union Electric Steel Corporation permit total control over key process and product variables.  Melting and forging operations are conducted at the Burgettstown PA Plant.  The Electroslag Remelting facilities in Erie PA are used for critical applications.  Roll forgings are then shipped to our finishing plants in Carnegie PA and Valparaiso IN for hardening and finish machining operations.

Union Electric Steel of Burgettstown, PA is seeking qualified candidates for Superintendent Quality Assurance to be part of our team of highly trained, skilled and motivated employees.

 

The duties of this position are to manage quality systems and day-to-day activities of the Quality Assurance Department necessary to ensure production operations, quality assurance testing, and release product meet quality requirements.

 

 

Responsibilities

·         Establishes work schedules of department supervisor and/or Manufacturing Technicians and administrative assistants to achieve quality and production goals and objectives.

·         Reviews and analyzes quality reports, customer issues and non-conformance dispositions to determine causes of non-conformity and operating concerns for remediation, and, in conjunction with Manufacturing Superintendents, implementation of appropriate corrective action.

·         Responsible for selecting and maintaining department personnel.

·         Ensures adherence to/compliance with company policies, rules and regulations relating to safety/health, performance standards, operating procedures, processes, and training requirements.

·         Schedules and implements necessary employee training.

·         Reviews product quality and gives final approval of inspection results for in-process and finish inspection to authorize product to advance in production/shipment.

·         Assists with the coordination of manufacturing activities to ensure the quality of products meets specifications.

·         Prepares data and cost-of-quality performance and supervises completion of action items.

·         Maintains policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  

Management Responsibilities

·         Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.

·         Directly supervises approximately 8 employees, monitors work quality, including conducting performance appraisals and providing counseling for improved performance.

·         Recruits and selects department personnel, with assistance from Human Resources staff.

 

Requirements

·         BS/BA Degree in a technical discipline is preferred

·         Experience in heavy manufacturing desired
