Supervisor - Nursing (Cardiology)

Coordinates daily operations of department/unit/clinic to ensure appropriate quality of care. Serves as liaison and facilitates communication between administration, physician, staff, patients and other departments. Participates in development and implementation of department goals and objectives. Supervises assigned nursing staff. Essential Functions: - Supervises and coordinates daily operations and staffing. Ensures high quality patient care services at optimal controllable cost - Assess and monitors clinical nursing practice for optimal patient care. Designs and evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum. Follows-up on all clinical issues - Functions as liaison between administration, physician, staff, patients and other departments. Facilitates communication between physicians, staff and patients. Acts as patient advocate - Participates in or coordinates/leads various leadership, multidisciplinary teams and task forces meetings to improve patient care and services, control costs and/or meet other needs across continuum - Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate - Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff - Provides direct patient care on an as needed basis. Provides services that are within scope of license and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements relevant to clinical role performed - Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - Three years of staff nurse experience - bachelor's degree in nursing or RN with three years nursing management experience - Valid Hawaii RN license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure) - Current BLS for Health care Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, conflict resolution, customer service, group presentations, interpersonal relations, oral communication, analytical and problem solving, quality management, teamwork, written communication, and ability to lead by influence - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications Preferred Qualifications: - Supervisory/leadership experience - Nursing education/training experience - Experience with an electronic medical record system - Experience with program improvement - Finance and/or business experience - Masters Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Business Administration or a health care related field - Knowledge of KP systems
