Job Description AECOM is looking to recruit Supervisors of Civil Construction Transmission Projects for an anticipated transmission and distribution project in the greater Edmonton, Alberta, Canada region. These are regular full time opportunities and relocation assistance may be available. Under the general supervision of the Construction Manager, the Supervisor of Civil Construction will be responsible for the supervision, coordination and administration of civil construction work on projects. Responsibilities to include: - Preparation of project work plan. - Ensure safe work practices, quality assurance, and quality control of contractors work in accordance with contract specification and Alberta Safety Codes. - Holding start-up and orientation meetings with contractors and workers. - Coordinating various work groups, and communication with other department groups regarding project scope, scheduling and other project related information. - Issuing weekly reports on project status to the Project Manager. - Preparation of written technical specifications for civil site scope of work. - Review technical specifications for tender documents, evaluate tenders and prepare recommendations for contractor/vendor selections. - Review and recommend contractor selection, attend the document site visits with contractors. - Establish good working relationships with multi-discipline project team members, contractors, and any others that have an effect on the quality, schedule and cost of projects. - Monitor the construction and commissioning of all projects for scope changes and report daily on changes that can impact the project cost or schedule, issue change orders within level of authority or escalate to quickly address. - Monitor the construction and commissioning of all projects for schedule changes and track progress on a daily basis identifying any issues that could delay the schedule, provide advice on course of action to maintain the schedule within authority levels or escalate to quickly address. - Monitor and audit construction documentation to ensure that the facilities are being constructed to meet the quality specifications in the contract. Qualifications to include: - Graduated from a recognized Civil Engineering Technology program and registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist or eligible for registration with ASET (Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta) with a minimum of 5 years Civil Construction experience. A combination of academic and past direct related experiences will be considered. - Must have construction experience in heavy civil engineering relating to site work, infrastructure, foundation and transportation construction. Experience in drainage design and knowledge of electrical power industry is a definite asset. - Experience in the use of AutoCad or Microstation would be considered an asset. - Working knowledge of CSA and AECUC (Alberta Electric and Communication Utility Code) codes, as well as OHS Regulations, and all applicable Canadian and Alberta electrical and building codes. - Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. - Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and written to interact effectively with contractors and internal customers. - Must be willing to travel extensively, work flexible hours and stay out of town for periods of time. - All applicable Authorizations including a valid operator's license .
