Responsible for implementing changes regarding unit structure and flow of personnel in GI Services. * Performs human resource responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, salary adjustments, resolution of employee concerns, disciplinary counseling, terminations, and employee morale. * Responsible for achieving the optimal level of productivity based on the coordination of staffing and scheduling patterns. Creates monthly schedules and assigns duties of personnel based on the department workload. * Evaluates the quality of patient care provided by all personnel through direct observation, staff adherence to policies, procedures, and standards of practice, and through peer input. Responsible for performance improvement initiatives on unit. Assures that the outcome facilitation process occurs at the unit level. * Develops and makes recommendations for patient care improvements and unit efficiencies based on goals and objectives. * Reviews procedures, makes recommendations for changes and communicates and promotes new approaches and concepts in nursing practice. Supports staff involvement in research initiatives related to patient care. * Promotes communication among patients, families, Medical Center departments and medical staff, and acts as liaison to the medical staff by serving as a problem-solver and mediator. Develops and maintains effective intra-and inter-departmental relationships. * Develops and maintains physician partnerships to ensure smooth flow within GI Services. Communicates directly with physician groups to address areas of concern and opportunities for improvement. Develops and provides written plans of action to communicate and establish positive outcomes. * Assists the manger in the development of the annual site capital and operational budgets and works within established budgets through the interpretation of data, including fiscal reports and productivity measurements. * Collaborates with Manager to assure budget parameters and productivity standards are adhered to. * Responsible for understanding and adhering to the Aurora Health Care Code of Excellence and for ensuring personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws that affect Aurora's business.
