This opening is with Alcoa Howmet, a division of Alcoa Power and Propulsion a world leader in the investment casting of superalloys, aluminum and titanium primarily for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine markets and a leading supplier of forgings for the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation, and other industrial markets. The Area Leader/Supervisor will report to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for the direction and motivation of the manufacturing workforce to produce products of high quality in the most efficient and safe manner and ensure that scheduling meets business and customer needs. Additional Responsibilities: * Development of teams focusing on a safe working environment, goals and continuous improvement * Actively involved in all ABS initiatives * Work assignments for employees on a daily basis * Actively support HR policies and procedures * Provide leadership to various safety projects * Maintain Time and Attendance for all team members. * Maintain accurate labor productivity data for all team members. * Actively communicate on a daily basis with team members * Maintain a clean and safe work environment * Knowledge of shop floor, inventory flow and location * Work with computers on a routine basis Skills Required: * Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills * Ability to promote and implement change as well and foster a continuous improvement environment * Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. * Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization with effective oral and written communication skills * Ability build teamwork with the workforce * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. * Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills Note: Depending education and experience this position may be filled as a grade 14-16 Basic Qualifications * High School diploma or GED * 2+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or military leadership experience Preferred Qualifications * Associates or technical degree * Investment casting experience * Ability build teamwork with the workforce * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. * Mechanical aptitude
