Major Function:
As a vital sourcing team member, this position partners with suppliers to develop, implement and execute capability improvement initiatives, which will result in high service and quality levels throughout Toro’s supply chain. This position works cross-functionally toward corporately supported Supplier Quality Performance initiatives and strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with other functions within Toro to identify key and/or problem Suppliers in need of performance improvement or developmental activities.
- Lead/participates on cross-functional teams in the assessment of new and existing Supplier’s capabilities, strengths, opportunities for improvement and level of risks presented to Toro.
- Participate in the development, implementation and execution of Sourcing processes related to Supplier Selection Approval, Performance Improvement, Supplier Training, and Supplier Certification.
- Support the implementation of other Toro initiatives related to Supply Chain Management such as Advanced Product Quality Planning and Failure Analysis.
- Supports the execution of other Sourcing Supplier Quality processes in order to achieve the departmental goals and objectives.
- Establishes a direct working relationship with key Suppliers to counsel and guide, as needed, their improvement efforts. Monitor the implementation and follow up of action plans to insure sustained continual improvement to the mutual benefit of the Supplier, Toro, and our end Customer.
- Utilize current and/or develop new reports and metrics to support continual improvement efforts and Toro Objectives.
- Works with representatives from each division, Toro plants, and Suppliers to support established processes and continual improvement efforts.
- Works with outside agencies, as required, in benchmarking and evaluating new and existing Suppliers, for evaluation of products, or other services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (such as mechanical, electrical, quality or industrial).
- At least five years of manufacturing experience and three years of experience in a Quality position with proven skills in the quality disciplines.
- ASQ certification in the areas of Quality Engineering, Reliability, Six Sigma, Quality Management or professional (IATCA / RAB) auditing certification preferred.
- Ability to partner with internal and external resources in the areas of quality planning, corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently, professionally, decisively, solve problems and communicate effectively.
