Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description Eaton Corporation in Beltsville, MD has an opening for a Supplier Quality Engineer. This person will function as the technical liaison between the supplier and site regarding all quality and improvement issues. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: A. Functional quality lead for supplier specification quality training B. Perform initial assessments and periodic audits of supplier quality systems for the purpose of approving new suppliers and verifying continuing supplier conformance to quality system requirements. C. Initiate and follow-up supplier corrective actions to ensure complete and effective root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. D. Act as liaison for the supplier and the company to resolve nonconformance and quality problems effectively by interacting and communicating with engineering, purchasing, planning, program quality engineers and various levels of management of the supplier and the company. E. Participate as a member of the Material Review Board to review and disposition supplier related Nonconformance Material Reports as required. F. Develop appropriate and effective supplier metrics to monitor effectiveness of supplier quality control system and processes. G. Develop and assist with implementation of supplier quality control and process control plans as required for supplier operations. H. Develop and implement statistical process controls of supplier processes as appropriate or when required by customers. I. Lead the SCM team to develop supplier performance reports and process. J. Lead the SCM team in development of certified supplier process. K.Develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with suppliers. Participate as internal auditor for process audits of AS9100/ISO 9001:2000 quality management system.-Position Criteria: - Through understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M. - Detailed knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001:2000 quality system requirements and how they affect procurement activity. - Working knowledge of basic statistical process control methods. - Understanding of lean principles. - Must exhibit a high level of motivation, sense of urgency, attention to detail, energetic approach to job duties and requirements. Must be technically knowledgeable and capable of grasping detailed engineering and quality concepts. Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor?s Degree from an accredited institution required - (5) years minimum quality engineering experience within aerospace/manufacturing environment. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
