Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Liverpool
Salary: Circa 35-40K
A 1st Tier Automotive interior company is now looking for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer. A skilled negotiator, you will instigate and develop cost-down initiatives and preferred supplier programmes. Working closely with your suppliers, you will effectively manage and control the approval of production parts and processes to optimise new part introductions.
- Identify the high risk suppliers and provide special focus.
- Supplier concern management contact suppliers for immediate reaction when required.
- Control of supplier sorts/reworks in the plant, minimising the number and duration of them.
- Chasing, analysis and tracking of supplier problem solving documentation, verifying their effectiveness and timely responses, special attention for customer quality rejections due to supplier pass through issues and warranty concerns.
- Monitor suppliers systemic performance (Q,C,D metrics) and develop action plans for the weak performers. On site visits when necessary.
- Keep a close relationship with JLR STA for Directed Sourced Suppliers and ask for intervention when required based on escalation process.
- Coordinate the supplier charge back process.
- Support APQP/LRR meetings and report out to the key metrics to the programme team.
- Approve PPAP documentation, track PSW status and sign off PSWs.
- Support supplier Launch activities
- Assure defect-free delivery of purchased parts to production
- Prepare control plan for purchased parts and execute incoming goods inspection
- Evaluate suppliers quality capability and prepare reports (Total Vendor Rating System)
- Monitor supplier performance and co-ordinate Management Quality Review activities.
- Maintain approved PPAP samples from suppliers
- Manage quarantine area for non-conforming parts
- Process audits at suppliers in case of quality problems
- Co-ordinate Supplied Material Reject Reporting system
Experience
- Candidates will be certified to Degree level or equivalent with previous experience in quality management, preferably within a high volume, automotive manufacturing environment including launch periods.
- They must have proven experience in cockpit assembly or similar processes. Experience in leather wrapping or a similar process would be an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of ISO/TS 16949, Q1/SIM, APQP LRR, PPAP (PSW) including FMEA and Control Plan is required.
- A good understanding of problem solving tools (8D, PPS, etc.) is also necessary. Six sigma knowledge would be advantageous.
