Supplier Quality Engineer Job in Olean 14760, New York US
Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in quality, production and control at a supplier location. The role will also perform audits and implement new strategies.
Position Qualifications:
Required:
- BS or BA degree in Manufacturing / Industrial /Quality/Aerospace Engineering or Operations/Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
- 4 years experience in Supplier Quality Engineering in the oil/gas/energy or rotating equipment/turbomachinary/aerospace/heavy industry/automotive sectors.
- 3 years of Machining experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 10-20%.
- Hands on non-academic exposure to quality system requirements of ISO 9001.
- 2 years Hands on non-academic exposure and understanding of basic quality tools such as Gage RR, Process capability, FMEAs, and control plans experience.
- Willing to relocate to Olean, NY (75 miles from Buffalo, NY).
Preferred:
- Certified ASQ Quality Engineer
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
- Basic knowledge of either and compressor or turbine production.
Position Duties:
- Maintain regular contact and communication with Suppliers including regular site visits as appropriate.
- Insure that supplier develop effective corrective actions on quality and delivery problems.
- Communicate manufacture ability information from supplier s to D-R engineering.
- Contribute to development, monitor adherence to and contribute to continuous improvement process innovation activities pertaining to D-R Standard Work Processes for Supplier Engagement.
- Project Manage all contracts with new suppliers and all new contracts with existing suppliers, pulling together the appropriate team members and planning for success.
- Partner with and serve as ongoing communication link between the supplier and D-R SCM, Focus Factory Managers, Quality and all other D-R personnel.
- Key interface between the supplier and D-R for all issues in the supplier engagement process, with the authority to escalate significant delivery, manufacturing, cost or quality issues to appropriate team members as required.
- Work with supplier on expedites as required to maintain D-R project schedules.
- Monitor and report on operational performance at the overall subcontract and at the individual supplier level on critical supply chain metrics including on-time delivery, cost and quality.
- Work with D-R Operations teams to determine future demand requirements and properly match with supplier capability and performance.
- Track supplier performance on schedule and quality
- Hold periodic meeting with supplier managers and quality professions to discuss and drive improvement in performance
- Audit supplier to insure they have process well defined and that they are following the processes.
- Work with suppliers to insure that measurement systems are adequate and to achieve a Cpk=1.6 on critical to quality characters.
- Insure that proper control plans are in place for changes in the new parts, changes in old parts and change to the supplier process.
- Insure effectiveness of supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions.
