Supplier Quality Engineer Job in Warren 48089, Michigan US
SUMMARY
Plans and directs activities both internally and at suppliers associated with the development, construction and verification of ongoing production to identified quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
- SQE will provide guidance and understanding of Inalfa supplier expectations and objectives.
- Manage WWQD database (World Wide Quality Database) for both PPAP and Problem Solving activities.
- Manage quality issues associated with purchased parts including initial supplier contact, containment and permanent corrective action cycle. May include travel to supplier locations.
- Use of advanced problem solving skills (Red ‘X’, Six Sigma,etc) to resolve difficult problems.
- Support Operations Group with quality meetings, problem solving, reject/defect investigations associated with purchased parts.
- SQE will conduct audits, evaluate performance, develop action plans and provide recommendations for the purpose of improving quality performance at suppliers.
- Responsible for PPAP process for engineering changes to purchased parts in production.
- Sustaining Quality Engineer activities require extensive knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, Containment Plans, GDT, Check Fixtures, Gage RR, APQP, PPAP, AAR.
- Manage quality inputs to Engineering Change Process.
- Primary responsibility for executing Tool Transfer Procedure resulting in a seamless transfer of business to the new location with no impact to production.
- Responsible for participating in New Supplier Audits to qualify new suppliers to do business with Inalfa.
- Lead/support TS16949 internal audit process as required.
- Travel to suppliers both domestically and outside US (Korea, The Netherlands, China, Japan, Mexico, domestic travel etc)
- Work with logistics on quality related material shortages.
Primary Skill Sets
- Use of PC and Windows based applications for the purpose of data acquisition for lab environment and documentation of results.
- Proficient understanding of automotive procedures and requirements (AIAG).
- Understanding of automotive standards (ASTM, ISO/TS, SAE) used to ensure quality of results obtained.
- Effective communication skills to work in a team environment providing ideas, needs and reliable results to the engineering community.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) from four year college or university; ten year’s experience in Quality or equivalent combination of education and experience
ASQC certification preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
