Together with franchisee organizations within the Wendy’s Restaurant System (Wendy’s) and The Wendy’s Company (Company) itself, they have formed a cooperative (Co-op) to provide supply chain services for all Company and franchise restaurants in North America.  Quality Supply Chain Cooperative, Inc. (QSCC) sources and contracts to purchase items and services necessary for the successful operation of a Wendy’s restaurant. The Co-op (QSCC) is a separate corporation with governance oversight from an elected Board of Directors representing all franchisees and The Wendy’s Company stores.  The Wendy’s Restaurants of Canada (WROC) Supply Chain Department reports to QSCC in the U.S.

 

Position:

 

This opportunity is for a Supply Chain Manager for Canada, and will report to the Director of Supply Chain Management.  The position will be located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

 

Position Summary:

 

•          This position manages the sourcing, purchase and distribution of an appropriate supply of specified food and disposable products for Wendy's restaurants in Canada.  Ensures the quality, shipping, storage and delivery of goods throughout Canada.

 

Responsibilities:

 

•              Manages Canadian Supply Chain Management function for all assigned products.  Maintains thorough knowledge of Canadian importation regulations, restrictions, labeling, customs requirements, Nutritional labeling requirements, Marketing Boards and tariff rate quota system.  Conducts thorough research and understanding of the Canadian domestic supply environment.  In conjunction with WII develops annual price targets for budgets and meets targets. Conducts regular re-projections. Participates in Industry Meetings. 

 

·          Determines importation opportunities and in conjunction with QSCC-USA, ensures Canada is included in a North American RFP process; identifies any unique requirements for Canada and ensures they are addressed in the process.  Presents business case to Canadian  Management for approval to proceed.

 

·                Supports Marketing and Operations on new products and promotions via determining source of supply.  On products with importation restrictions identifies Canadian sources, negotiates, works with RD and Q.A. to gain approval.  On all products ensures appropriate labeling, nutrition declarations, pricing, currency exchange process, provides forecast, and oversees production.  Provides a high level of communication.

 

·               Monitors domestic labour agreements and developments contingency plan to ensure uninterrupted supply.  Works with QSCC-USA team to ensure contingency plans are in place.  Manages supplier and product changes.  Works to ensure the disposition of obsolete products and discontinued inventory to minimize costs and liabilities.  Determines inventory guidelines to assist manufacturers in production and continuous supply of assigned products.

·        Manages the overall business relationship with assigned suppliers. Utilizes Supplier Scorecards to assist in managing Supplier performance. Implements and maintains Supplier Operating Agreements for domestic products and ensures Canada is included on North American Supplier Operating Agreements.

 

·              In conjunction with QSCC-USA (and as required independently) performs industry analysis for assigned commodities/products or services. Develops supply strategy for major assigned commodities,  products, services that meet Canada’s business needs and plans.

 

 

·              Sources quota, as required, ensures approval, manages use of quota to ensure supply of product and depletion of quote to avoid liability to Wendy’s.

 

·                  Performs other job related duties as may be assigned or required

 

Qualifications:

• Strong negotiations skills

·  Strong communication skills

·   Detail Oriented

• Indepth knowledge of supply and logisitics, import/ export restrictions, Marketing Boards and tariff rate quota system

·    At least 10 years experience in Supply Chain Management

·   BS or BA in Business, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field

 

Travel:  up to 20% outlined as follows;

·   Attends Region Meetings and Supplier visits as needed.

·  Attends large-scale meetings such as Company Conventions etc.
